Some were ingratiating, some were merely tolerant, and others were downright hostile.

While Ming sat with her smug face, talking down to the player character, several different choices popped up, all leading the conversation down a different path. There are several ways to approach the conversation, that mainly had to do with finding a sarcophagus of some sort in their hood.

The conversation between the leader, Ming Xiao, and the main character was an interesting one. After the feeding was done, a different save was loaded up and the game moved into the headquarters of the Kuei-Jin.

Troika showed us one path for a vampire with the seduction power that could get a prostitute to follow for free into a dark area where they could feed. Money or powers can help bring those in the light into a side street where feeding is possible. Finding them in dark corners is one thing, but it's also possible to get them to come with you. Thankfully, there are those wandering the city that most humans would consider. Feeding is obviously a necessity for vampires, so doing it on the down low is a priority. In order to feed and operate without breaking the masquerade, it'll have to be done to the shadows. There's no knowing when and where, but it will happen. If you do let the world know that there are vampires out and about, the up and ups and Camarilla HQ are going to have a serious problem and the chances of running into a bounty hunter in the world are fairly good. The same rules apply here about the Masquerade. YES NO Running around the streets seemed to be much like the other three hubs in Vampire aside from look and layout. But before the demo brought us face to face with one of these characters, there was some feeding to be done. In order to find out the location of said sarcophagus, the Kuei-Jin had to give permission for the player character vampire to operate in the area. At this point in the game, the Prince of vampires had sent the player character, a human turned vampire without permission now indebted to the prince, to find a sarcophagus that may or may not have something very important in it. They consider the act of feeding on human blood beneath them. Apparently the Kuei-Jin are a bit different than vampires in that they don't have to feed on human blood, instead sucking some sort of essence from them without harm. For those that don't know, the Camarilla is made up of seven very different clans of vampires, forged as an alliance during the inquisition to protect vampire kind. One thing is clear, these guys consider themselves more refined than the Camarilla. The biggest of these was the fact that it's controlled by Asian vampires that aren't technically vampires. Chinatown turned out to be an interesting place for a couple of reasons. It also doesn't seem to hurt that Vampire is using the Source engine to render the loveliness. The artists have done a great job making it both moody and colorful. This visit marked the first time that we were able to see the Chinatown section of the great city of Los Angeles and it was beautiful. Thankfully we'll get some alone time with the game in a couple weeks to give it a taste. The RPG elements look good and seem engaging (though I haven't been able to spend too much personal time with them) and the action combat elements look fast and furious.

They've obviously been making good progress on getting everything polished up and ready to go. Such was the case when they dropped by the offices last week to give us a peek at Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, their new RPG set in the White Wolf classic role-playing universe. Troika doesn't come out of their shell too often to show off their games, but when they do, they usually have something pretty good to look at.
